Cotton Gin Museum

Last Saturday Daniel and I had a date.  We went to the Burton Cotton Gin Museum.  That's right, a cotton gin museum.  Now it's not the most romantic of date locations, but I did have a good time!  Last Christmas I made Daniel a whole year's worth of dates in envelopes.  So each month has something fun we can do together that he opens up at the beginning of each month.  For April I decided to do something more geared to something he would like and found this museum.

I gotta say, I learned more about cotton than I ever knew!  If you're up for visiting a teeny tiny town with a very scenic drive, then Burton is the place to be.

I ♥ Target

Target and I have a great relationship. We see each other once a week!  Not only do they have a selection of awesome coupons you can print from their website, but they have some killer clearance stuff.  Daniel always makes fun of me going into Target so much, but when I can find great stuff why wouldn't I?!

If you want to find the good stuff, you have to check the ends of the aisles.  Today a friend and I went to Target after school and BLAM!  I'm staring at a selection of knobs and drawer pulls.  Now our kitchen is all redone, but our bathrooms are not.  So I call Daniel and see how many we need and hooooooray! They have enough for us!  The set of 4 knobs was originally $11.99, but I got them for $3.58.  The set of 2 drawer pulls were originally $5.99, and I got them for $1.78!  So I scored $36 worth of hardware for just $11!

Now I am ready for my summer of painting and projects! :)

V-Day

Yesterday was our first Valentine's Day as a married couple and it was double the fun!  We didn't expect to see each other because we usually wait until Wednesday to see each other so it's in the middle of the week, but Daniel left out of town today so he came over yesterday.  We had already given each other our gifts this past weekend and went out to eat at Cheddar's.  I gave Daniel a poker set (he said he always wanted), a set of dominoes, a bag of his favorite truffles and I found a cool wrench on clearance super cheap at Target.  I got a case for my Kindle and I was so excited! I told him that I had wanted one and he listened! Can't wait to use it on our cruise soon! :)

Poor Daniel had a bad day at work yesterday, so I ran to the store and got the stuff to make chili.  He's a big chili freak.  That and some caffeine definitely made the day better.  I even survived our school party and had a good time.  Hope your V-Day was great too!

Small Steps

Not to toot my own horn, but I did pretty good again last week. I lost another pound! Yay! And Dan gained it! Hah!  Only because he went a little crazy most of the week and went over his daily limit.

I think it's getting slightly easier, but I don't want to speak too soon and have a bad week.  I've started doing zumba a couple days a week at school to get in a little exercise.  A by little I mean a lot. Cause zumba will straight up kick yo butt!  In a good way :)

When I lose 5 pounds we've made a deal that we get to go eat out at Chuy's, so I need to get working! I love me some Chuy's!

Dieting is So Fun!

NOT!  Daniel and I are now starting week 3 of doing Weight Watchers together.  That first week was a doozy. All I wanted to do was eat. All the time.  We both went over our points pretty much everyday, and for the first week I was ok with that.  It's hard to train yourself to eat different things.

Last week we both did much better.  Daniel lost 7 pounds! Ummm wow! Who are you?!  I lost 1 pound and I am proud that the number went down! I know he'll probably drop it faster and it'll take me forever, so I have to keep patient.

Tonight we're trying a recipe for cheese enchiladas we found online.  Hope it turns out good! A good website I found for healthier recipes that include how many points they are is http://www.skinnytaste.com/  We tried the oatmeal breakfast bake last weekend and it was pretty good.

Happy counting! :)

Controlling the chaos

Well it's a new year, and I am not one for making resolutions.  However, I am all for being more organized and keeping things simple.  So today I had the day off and decided to get some cleaning done.  Our pantry needed some lovin'.  This summer I worked on getting it better organized, but well life happens and it's gotten just a bit sloppy again.  We wanted to get a lot of the clutter off of the floor so you know, you could actually walk in there!  I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and found a couple of metal sliding drawers to put some things in and I think it looks much better now!

Hopefully we can keep it looking like this for a while!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!  I just love this time of year! I get to enjoy a nice 2 weeks off from school to relax and get things accomplished.  I am so excited to spend my first Christmas with Dan.  Last year we celebrated early so we could spend the last Christmas with our families.  This year we're getting to spend Christmas morning together and will go later that morning to spend time with my family.  A couple of days later we'll head up to see Dan's family and go see his sister and bro in law.  I'm excited for some snow!  I hope your Christmas is full of fun and love!

We strung our Christmas cards up so we could see them.
