Construction Projects

My dear husband always has a project of some kind going. Last weekend he built our dog Alice a dog house so she has somewhere to snuggle up in the cold and rain.  He finished up the dog house for now, we've still got to cover the tar paper and shingle the roof.  Another project going on is the storage shed.  Daniel wanted to raise it up so he can walk inside of it without bending over and give it a bit more room.  He built some supports to raise the walls up and him and his dad worked after Thanksgiving on getting it started.  They've made a lot of progress! They got all the walls and the door put in, now it just needs the new roof and getting everything organized inside.  I will be glad to have our garage back when it's all done!

I think she likes the new house!

Just a little more to go now!

Veteran's Day

Thursday at school we had an awesome presentation by one of our very own teachers and some of his friends. Mr. A is a kindergarten teacher at our school who also serves in the Army.  They brought big trucks and all of their equipment that they wear in combat and taught us all about them.  They helped the kids climb in the trucks and they just thought that was so cool! We had such a fun time and it made me appreciate our service men and women even more! Thanks to our veterans!

A Fun Wedding and Project

Well hello November, ummm when did October leave?! And this month is already flying by! Can't believe Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away.  We're having both of our families at our house this year, should be a lot of fun and craziness!

My sweet in laws came down this past weekend and we went to a cousin's wedding Saturday night.  It was was decorated so country cute and we had a great time out on the dance floor. Sorry the pictures are a bit blurry, but  I thought the dance floor with the lights was so neat!

I wish I were clever enough to come up with this idea myself, but I saw this on Pinterest and since we're doing odd and even numbers this week in school I just had to do it.  I made patterns and had the kids make the "boring" even houses Monday and we made the crazy odd houses today and they had a lot of fun being creative. And of course getting to use markers is like the coolest thing EVER! Only one more week of school and then I get a whole week off! Yay! :)

The Newest Addiction

If you haven't heard about Pinterest then I'm pretty sure you've been under a rock.  I put off looking at it for a long time, but finally just had to check out what everyone was talking about.  And of course now I'm hooked.  I have found some neat school ideas for centers and lessons that we have used.  Like this center idea that I recreated thanks to Dollar Tree.  My kids think it's so cool too!

Really this site can completely take up your time, so sometimes I just have to stop myself.  If you haven't checked it out yet, go do it!

Fall Fun

Happy Fall! I love this time of year, especially when the weather is nice.  A few weeks ago, Daniel and I went and picked peas.  This was a first for this girl!  In the field where him and the other ag guys grow things, they had about 4 acres of black eyed pea plants.  We picked 3 very full sacks of peas and it took us about an hour just to do that.  Those babies took a long time to shell!  Several nights were spent sitting on the couch with a bowl in my lap shelling peas.

Dan hard at work!

Daniel and I just spent a wonderful weekend in San Antonio.  He has work meetings there this week and we decided to go on down early and spend some time together.  We took off Friday and drove down.  Saturday we spent some time around the Alamo, taking in all the sights and enjoying the beautiful landscaping they have around the area.  We enjoyed a nice dinner on the riverwalk and a boat cruise too.  This morning we just strolled around and we found a cute waterfall and pond area near the convention center and sat and watched all the little fish and saw the crawfish. It was a super weekend and I'm so glad that we had the time to relax and spend some quality time together. :)

I think this is one of the oldest trees I've ever seen, it was huge!

I know I'm a little bias, but I think I have the cutest husband ever!

Pass me a floatie!

I'm gonna need to swipe this dog's floatie!  Now moving to first grade has been a big change.  I mean I now deal with little people who can't even tie their own shoe.  Don't ask me to tie your shoes, I don't know where they've been!  They can't read, they can't write, but they are funny.  I'm getting more used to this age and getting used to talking VERY slowly and darn that I can't use my sarcasm anymore.  I work with a great group of people who are very helpful, but I feel like I'm paddling in a circle and can't keep up!  It's been 3 years since I've taught any kind of math at all!  So for now I'm just going to keep paddling the best that I can and hope that my floatie comes soon!

Honeymoonin'

Well the wedding was a success!  The day went really smoothly, no major incidents.  It went by SOOO fast, we were leaving in the car thinking I can't believe it's already over!  We both had a blast and loved every minute of it. :)  Since I had to start back at school this past week, we couldn't go away for a trip yet.  So we drove to Navasota and stayed in a cute little bed and breakfast.

 We're married!

So glad that all the planning and hard work is over and we're now married!  Now we'll just be counting down to our cruise! :)
