Student Funnies

We had a program for our students today about how books are cool and can give you all kinds of information, this guy was doing magic tricks and had the kids rolling. Well the guy asked the kids to name the 3 state mammals of Texas. First kid he calls on says the armadillo. That's right, now there are 2 more and who can give the next one? One of my dear children raises his hand and says "us!" Good try dear, we are mammals, but not state symbols.

Last week we were talking about multiple meaning words, how a word can have different meanings to it. We were talking about the different meanings for the word sign and one of them was like sign language. One of my funny guys holds up his hand like this picture and says "This is the sign for rock and roll!" You're right my dear it is! I cracked up.
These classes this year are just funny! They keep us rolling all the time!

Dinner Club

Every Tuesday night my friends Mandi, Cathy, Betsy and I get together for our dinner club. We take turns who cooks and last night was Betsy's turn. She made an awesome tortellini casserole, salad, garlic bread and chocolate chip cookies. I just bought the Twilight board game, and we are all Twilight fanatics, so I brought it to play. It was pretty good, some of the questions were a little odd, but we had a good time.

Oh and I broke the poor little chair. I thought it was wobbly feeling and I got up and sat back down and kaboom! We were all laughing so hard I thought we were about to wet our pants! Dinner club is definitely fun and entertaining! My turn next week!

J.D.'s Murder Mystery Party

Me, Dana, JD, Kathy, Shane, Robert and Cherie

In the dramatic fashion of Mr. J.D. Humber, he hosted a murder mystery birthday party. I played a crazy gypsy lady named Madame Rose. I hit up the resale shops and got a few things for my costume and borrowed some jewelry from my mom. Dana played the birthday boy's fiance Ms. Creme, Kathy was the chef, Shane was the butler, Robert was Professor Plum and Cherie was the attorney. JD is playing drag in this picture as Ms. Peacock, his mom was supposed to play her and couldn't come. We had a great time and had lots of laughs!

My classroom

This year at school our theme is "Groovy About Success!" so there are peace signs and flower power everywhere!

I bought this daisy garland at the Dollar Tree and I love it!

This year I decided to buy a kid's tent and use it as my special reading corner, I hope the kids like it!

I got new turquoise sheer curtains, although the sun is coming through and it's hard to tell, but I love them already! They bring a big splash of color! I'm all set up and ready for a new group of kiddos!

Our little Becky got married!

Last Saturday my sweet cousin Becky got married! I went down the weekend before and Becky, Sarah and I stayed with my Aunt Rita and Uncle Jerry. We got to visit the Downtown Aquarium, the Halocaust Museum and did some all important shopping. I had a great time with these girls and I know Ken will take care of our sweet girl!

Caribbean Cruisin!

I just got back from a great cruise from Galveston to Cozumel with 3 of my good friends, Betsy, Cathy and Hannah. All 4 of us are teachers who wanted to live up our summer vacation!

Cathy, Betsy and I "played" putt putt golf. I say "played" because the wind was so crazy up on the top of the ship that the ball would just keep on rolling!
Cathy and I climbed the to the top of a lighthouse on our shore excursion. Talk about a workout!

Betsy, Cathy, me and Hannah at a small Mayan ruin. It was used to signal when a hurricane was approaching. Good thing we didn't need to hear it!

Me with the ship docked in Cozumel

Me and Betsy on formal night

We did a lot of this!

Cathy, me and Betsy with the beautiful sunset
This was cruise #2 for me and the first for the rest of the girls. We all had a great time! Next year I vote for somewhere colder like Canada!

PLC

Every year our school district sends teachers to attend the Project Learning Communities conference. I got to fill in for another teacher who couldn't go and I could not have picked a more fun group of gals to be with! We stayed in a fabulous hotel on the riverwalk and got to have a fun time every night!

My friend Brooke and I on one of the riverwalk boats at night, I had always wanted to ride one!
Me and Myrna

Crazy Deborah, she is definitely a FUN lady to be around!

The nice view from our hotel!
